Gymnastics Improves to 8-3 With Win Over Yale

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Rutgers gymnastics team moved to 8-3 on the season with a 192.725-192.250 victory over Yale on Saturday, Feb. 14, in New Haven, CT.
Elizabeth Fittery (Denver, PA) finished in a three-way tie for first place in the all-around with a total score of 38.475. Her best event was the floor exercise with a 9.750.
Nicole Bradder (Dover, NH) had a 38.375 in the all-around, aided by a team-best score of 9.825 on the floor exercise. Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) scored a 38.350.
RU's highest scoring event was the floor exercise, as Nicole Bradder (Dover, NH) finished in a third place tie with a score of 9.825. Caitlin Wight (Washington, PA) was close behind with a score of 9.800 to finish in fifth place. Elizabeth Fittery (Denver, PA) earned a seventh place finish with a score of 9.750.
On the vault, Rutgers had the top two finishers - Johnson and Bradder (9.575). Freshman Jackie Campbell (Wheatley Heights, NY) and Fittery finished with identical scores of 9.525.
On bars, Rutgers had five of the top seven finishers, led by a second-place showing from Sveta Shterenberg (Sharon, MA), who had a score of 9.800 to finish second. Stephanie Zick (Pittsburgh, PA) (third, 9.750), Fittery (fourth, 9.600) and Heckler (fifth, 9.575) helped Rutgers score a 48.225, its second-highest team score of the day.
Lisa Abrams (Mt. Ephraim, NJ) keyed Rutgers' efforts on the balance beam, finishing in a tie for second place. She scored a 9.800 while Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) had a 9.650 to finish in fifth place. Fittery scored a 9.600 to finish in eighth place.
The Scarlet Knights return to action next Sunday, Feb. 22, when it travels to Chapel Hill, NC, to face the North Carolina Tar Heels.
