Rutgers Gymnastics Cruises Past Temple

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rutgers gymnastics team (3-2, 0-2 EAGL) defeated Temple (3-5) on Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Philadelphia, PA. The Scarlet Knights outscored the Owls, 189.675-186.950.
RU won each of the four events behind strong performances from all of its gymnast, including senior Nicci Bradder (Dover, NH), who captured the all-around title with a score of 38.125.
Bradder and sophomore Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) tied for first place in the floor exercise, scoring a 9.625, followed by senior Stephanie Zick (Pittsburgh, PA) in fourth place with a 9.500 performance. On the balance beam, Bradder and sophomore Casey Santangelo (Cherry Hill, NJ) each scored a 9.400 to tie for second, while sophomore Jackie Campbell (Wheatley Heights, NY) finished in a tie for fourth place with a score of 9.375.
Sophomore Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) took second place on the uneven bars, scoring a 9.675, followed by freshman Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, PA) in third place (9.600). Pannick also tied for second place in the vault with a score of 9.400.
The Scarlet Knights will continue their road trip, traveling to New Haven, CT, to take on Southern Connecticut State in a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 p.m.
