Rutgers Gymnastics Unveils 2006 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University gymnastics team will host four meets, including the 2006 East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships on Saturday, March 25, at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.
RU, the reigning 2005 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Champions, will open its 2006 campaign at home against league foe New Hampshire on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Livingston Recreation Center.
The Scarlet Knights will then venture on a two-opponent road trip against North Carolina State on Saturday, Jan. 14, and James Madison on Saturday, Jan. 21, before eventually returning to Piscataway for a two-meet homestand against Temple on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Southern Connecticut and Brockport on Saturday, Jan. 28.
RU will travel to Pittsburgh, PA, to take on the Panthers in a league meet on Saturday, Feb. 4, followed by a pair of road meets against Penn State on Friday, Feb. 10, and EAGL opponent Maryland on Friday, Feb. 17.
Rutgers will host its final home meet of the season against Towson, Rhode Island, Bowling Green and Bridgeport on Saturday, Feb. 25, before closing out the regular season schedule with three road dual-meets against Cornell on March 4, Towson on March 11, and 2005 EAGL runner-up West Virginia on March 18.
The Louis Brown Athletic Center will serve as host site for the 2006 EAGL Championships on Saturday, March 25. The eight competing teams include Rutgers, George Washington, Maryland, New Hampshire, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia.
Head coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton, the 2005 USAG College National Coach of the Year, enters her 20th season at the helm of the Scarlet Knights. Chollet-Norton returns 16 letterwinners, including All-American Beth Fittery (Denver, PA), from a team that went 16-9 overall and 2-6 in EAGL action.
