Rutgers Gymnastics Finishes Second Against West Virginia, Bridgeport

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers gymnastics team (10-5, 1-5 EAGL) fell just short of defeating 2004 defending East Atlantic Gymnastics League champion West Virginia on Saturday evening at the Livingston Recreation Center. The Mountaineers took first place with 193.150, while the Scarlet Knights scored a season-high 192.525 points to finish second, followed by Bridgeport in third place with 185.725.
Senior Nicci Bradder (Dover, NH) put together a stellar performance, finishing second in the all-around with a combined score of 38.750. Sophomore Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) took third in the all-around with 38.325 points.
Bradder led the Scarlet Knights in the floor exercise with a third place finish, scoring a season-best 9.825. She also recorded a season-high 9.700 in the vault to take fifth place.
Leading the beam rotation was junior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ), who tied with West Virginia's Carri Nagle for first place with a score of 9.750. Bradder tied with WVU's Margaret Ann Moore for fourth with a 9.575.
Freshman Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, PA) took second place on the uneven bars, scoring a personal-best 9.750, followed by Bradder in a tie for third with a 9.650.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, March 5, when they host Cornell, East Michigan and Ursinus at 1:00 p.m. at the Livingston Recreation Center. Prior to the meet, Rutgers will honor its nine graduating senior.
