Straka Named EAGL Specialist of the Week

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Sophomore Kelly Straka (Fairless Hills, PA), has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced today. Straka’s Specialist of the Week honor is the first of her career.
With Rutgers trailing Pittsburgh by .125 points going into the final rotation, Straka helped boast the Scarlet Knights past the competition with a career-high 9.850 performance on the floor exercise. RU earned its first EAGL victory, upending the Panthers 190.750-190.050. Finishing third in the quad meet was Brown University with 186.000 points and Brockport State took fourth with 183.450.
Straka is currently fourth on the team, averaging a 9.510 on the floor exercise.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Friday, Feb. 11, when they travel to College Park, MD to take on Temple, Brockport State and Maryland in a quad-meet.
