Rutgers Advances to Finals of USA Collegiate National Championships

ITHACA, NY - Sophomore Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) earned All-American status in the all-around, as the Rutgers University gymnastics team (16-9) advanced to the finals of the USA Collegiate National Championships on Thursday at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY
The Scarlet Knights scored 191.275 points to finish third overall, while UC Davis took first with 193.550 points and Seattle Pacific placed second with 191.550 points.
Fittery took fifth in the all-around competition, scoring 37.925 points on her way to being named All-American. Fittery also finished eighth in the uneven bars with a 9.200.
Senior Stephanie Zick (Pittsburgh, PA) led the Scarlet Knights in the uneven bars with a second place finish, matching her season-high score of 9.800. Zick also took ninth in the floor exercise with a 9.750. Fittery and Zick advanced to the individual competition with their performances on the bars.
RU's top performers in the vault was sophomore Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA), who took ninth with 9.600, followed by senior Nicci Bradder (Dover, NH) and freshman Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, PA) in a tie for 15th with a 9.550. Pannick also placed 10th on the bars a 9.700.
Junior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) scored a 9.550, finishing in 15th place on the balance beam to lead Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights will compete in the championships on Friday, April 15, while Fittery and Zick will also participate in the individual bars competition on Saturday, April 16.
