Northcutt Named EAGL Rookie of the Week

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, GA), has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced today. Northcutt's Rookie of the Week honor is the first of her career.
Rutgers (1-0, 1-0 EAGL) defeated New Hampshire 189.250-189.225 to earn its first EAGL victory of the season. Northcutt won the balance beam competition with a 9.725 and was the Scarlet Knights' top finisher on vault with a fifth-place score of 9.550. She was also sixth on bars with a 9.500.
The Snellville native was a four-time Regional and National qualifier and won the state vault and balance beam championships as a senior. She also won the state championships in the vault as a sophomore.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they travel to Raleigh, NC to take on North Carolina State at the Reynolds Coliseum.
