RU Gymnastics Hosts Final Regular-Season Home Meet This Weekend

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Rutgers University gymnastics team (6-6, 1-4 EAGL) will host Towson, Rhode Island, Bowling Green and Bridgeport on Saturday, Feb. 25, in its final home meet of the 2006 season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Livingston Recreation Center.
Following Saturday’s meet, Rutgers will honor its five graduating seniors - Dawn Giel (Milford, NJ), Erin Lynch, (Mullica Hill, NJ), Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ), Jamye Shelton (Griffin, GA), and Lauren Sisler (Newport, VA).
Rutgers fell in a hard-fought EAGL tri-meet to Maryland and Pittsburgh last weekend, at the Comcast Pavilion. Maryland won the meet with 193.075 points, followed by Pittsburgh with 191.150 and Rutgers with 191.050 points.
This season, the Scarlet Knights are led by freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, GA), who is RU's top performer on the vault and uneven bars, averaging a 9.609 and 9.591, respectively. Fellow all-arounder, junior Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) headlines the balance beam rotation with an average score of 9.528, while junior All-American Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) is the squad's leader on the floor exercise with a 9.622.
