Rutgers Gymnastics Finishes Second at Towson Tri-Meet

TOWSON, MD - The Rutgers gymnastics team (12-8, 1-4 EAGL) scored 190.250 points to take second place at the Towson tri-meet on Saturday, March 11, at the Towson Center. Towson won the meet with 193.900 points, while Yale placed third with 188.000.
Freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, NJ) led the Scarlet Knights in both the vault and uneven bars against the Tigers. Northcutt tied for second place with a 9.725 on the vault and also recorded a second-place tie on the bars with a score of 9.750. Junior Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) followed with a sixth-place finish, scoring a 9.675 on the bars.
On the balance beam, senior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) was the high scorer, as she tied for first place with a 9.750. Northcutt posted the team's second highest performance on the beam with a 9.700 to finish sixth.
Leading Rutgers in the floor exercise was Fittery and junior Casey Santangelo (Cherry Hill, NJ), who tied for sixth place with a score of 9.550.
The Scarlet Knights will face West Virginia in their final meet of the regular season on Saturday, March 18, at 1:00 pm, before hosting the 2006 EAGL Championship on Saturday, March 25 at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.
