WASHINGTON, DC - The Rutgers gymnastics team placed third at the six-team George Washington/Lindsey Ferris Invitational Sunday afternoon inside the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center in Washington, DC. North Carolina won the event with a 193.575, while George Washington took second with a 190.000 and the Scarlet Knights placed third with a 187.625, giving the EAGL squads a top-three finish. Cornell (185.975), Temple (184.900) and William & Mary (182.725) placed fourth through sixth, respectively.
"This was a good meet for this team," Rutgers head coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton said. "I am proud of the way they came back in the bars and vault. We gained experience against teams in the EAGL that we will face again this year. We also showed how competitive the league is with all three EAGL teams finishing in the top three."
Senior Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, Pa.) tied with William & Mary's Stevie Waldman for first place on the bars with a 9.775 in the event. Junior Latara Northcutt (Snellville, Ga.) posted a sixth-place finish in bars, recording a 9.725. On the beam, she placed ninth with a 9.550.
Sophomore Laura Sevarino (Cheshire, Conn.) finished seventh in the all around with a score of 37.575. She tied for third in the floor exercise with a 9.675.
