Rutgers Wrestling Set for Midlands Tournament

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Rutgers wrestling team will travel to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Midlands Tournament from Dec. 29-30 on the campus of Northwestern University. A number of the top teams in the nation will be wrestling in the tournament, including No. 1 Iowa, No. 2 Iowa State, No. 5 Missouri, No. 8 Illinois and No. 10 Wisconsin.
The Scarlet Knights (11-4) have been led by redshirt sophomore heavyweight DJ Russo (Netcong, N.J.), who is tied for fifth in the nation with 20 wins. Freshman Scott Winston (Jackson, N.J.) is tied for seventh in the nation with 18 wins; he also ranks tied for third nationally with seven major decisions. Wrestling at 141-pounds, redshirt sophomore David Greenwald (Union, N.J.) leads the nation with 14 pins on the season.
After the Midlands Tournament, RU returns to action on Friday, Jan. 9, when it takes on EIWA conference opponent Brown in Providence, R.I.
