Rutgers Gymnastics Places Second at Cornell Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Rutgers gymnastics team placed second in a tri-meet at Cornell Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights recorded a 187.800 to place just behind leader Cornell, who posted a season-best score of 191.450. West Chester was third with a 168.125.
It was the first time in the 17-meet history of the series the Big Red defeated the Scarlet Knights.
Rutgers sophomore top all arounder Laura Sevarino (Cheshire, Conn.) was forced to withdraw just before the meet with an injury as junior Latara Northcutt (Snellville, Ga.) replaced her in the all around.
Sophomore Alyssa Lewandowski (Linden, N.J.) tied for second in the vault with a 9.625, just behind first-place Maddie Pearsall of Cornell. Freshman Nicole Rose (Maple Shade, N.J.) was fourth with a 9.550.
Northcutt took first in the uneven bars with a season-high 9.775 and Rutgers had three Scarlet Knights place fifth through seventh as senior Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, Pa.) was fifth, sophomore Prishani Seebadri (Wenonah, N.J.) placed sixth and junior Kristy Behr (Northport, N.Y.) placed seventh. Pannick posted a 9.525, Seebadri recorded a 9.500, and Behr had a 9.475. .
Northcutt led the Scarlet Knights with a fourth-place finish on the beam. The junior recorded a 9.575 in the event. Senior Tiffany Schramm (Orange County, Calif.) placed sixth with a 9.500.
Cornell took the top four spots in the floor exercise. Northcutt led the Scarlet Knights in the event with a 9.575 to tie for fifth, while Rose had a 9.525 to tie for seventh.
Northcutt's all around score of 37.900 placed her second to Pearsall of Cornell, who posted a 38.525.
Rutgers returns to action next Saturday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. The Scarlet Knights host Towson at the Livingston Recreation Center in what will be Senior Day for the Scarlet Knights.
