PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers gymnastics team will travel to the campus of West Virginia University to take on WVU, Minnesota, and New Hampshire in a quad meet on Saturday, March 15, at the Cary Gymnasium in Morgantown, W.Va.
New Hampshire and host West Virginia are RU's EAGL rivals.
The Scarlet Knights (11-7-1) are coming off a tough loss at home to Towson last weekend, falling to the Tigers by a score of 192.950-188.025 at the Livingston Recreation Center Saturday.
Rutgers has lost two of its standout gymnasts in sophomore all arounder Laura Sevarino (Cheshire, Conn.) as well as vault and bars competitor Prishani Seebadri (Wenonah, N.J.). Junior Latara Northcutt (Snellville, Ga.) has stepped up and competed well in the all around following Sevarino's injury.
The meet will give Rutgers a chance to avenge two losses from earlier in the season. The Scarlet Knights fell to WVU in the five-team meet held Feb. 23 on the Rutgers campus, tying for second place behind only the Mountaineers. To open the season, Rutgers fell to New Hampshire in a tri-meet at home that also included Bridgeport.
West Virginia (13-7), ranked No. 29 in the nation by GymInfo, is coming off a tri-meet victory over George Washington and Maryland last Sunday, edging the second-place Colonials by nearly two full points.
No. 38 New Hampshire (10-8) most recently dropped a dual meet to Michigan State, 196.350-193.475, in East Lansing Sunday. Minnesota (9-5), the highest-ranked squad in the meet at No. 24, defeated North Carolina 194.675-191.225 Friday.
RU is a combined 3-23 all-time against the field, including an 0-15 ledger against the Mountaineers. Rutgers is 3-8 versus New Hampshire, and has never faced Minnesota.
