Rutgers Gymnastics Defeats Cortland State

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Rutgers gymnastics team defeated Cortland State 193.500 - 187.500, in their second dual meet of the season, in Cortland N.Y. on Friday, February 13.
Rutgers was led by freshman Nicole Schwartz (Somerset, N.J.), who competed in her second all-around performance of the season. She posted a second place score of 37.750, as well as a first place score of 9.700 on the beam. Schwartz also scored a 9.300 on the bars, a 9.225 on the vault, and a 9.525 in the floor exercise, good for fourth overall.
Senior Kristy Behr (Northport, N.Y.) made her presence felt with her first place in the bars, posting a score of 9.575. The score was a season-high for the senior. Sophomore Erica Gerlach (Papillion, Neb.) also set a career-high on the bars with her score of 9.275, good for fourth at the meet.
Junior Alyssa Lewandowski (Linden, N.J) led the way in the floor exercise for the Scarlet Knights with a season-high first place finish of 9.650. Lewandowski placed third in the vault, with a score of 9.575.
Freshman Danae Johnson (Silver Spring, Md.) assisted Schwartz on the beam with a second place finish of 9.650.
For the second straight meet, senior Latara Northcutt (Snellville, Ga.) only competed in the vault, where she posted a fourth place finish of 9.500. She is still recovering from an injury that occurred in warm-ups at West Virginia.
Rutgers returns to action February 21 in dual meet action against Penn State and New Hampshire in State College, Pa.
