
No. 18 Rutgers Wrestling Preps for Nittany Lion Open

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Dec. 3, 2010) - Coming off a trio of victories last weekend at the Northeast Duals, the No. 18 Rutgers wrestling team will step away from dual action and head to Happy Valley, Pa. for the Nittany Lion Open.
Team's scheduled to join the Scarlet Knights at the open include Army, Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Boston, Buffalo, No. 11 Central Michigan, Columbia, Drexel, Edinboro, Hofstra, No. 12 Lehigh, Lock Haven, Maryland, Navy, North Carolina, NC-Greensboro, Ohio, Old Dominion, No. 5 Penn State, No. 17 Pittsburgh, Rider, The Citadel and No. 10 Virginia Tech. In addition to the teams scheduled to attend, several individuals from a number of schools will wrestle unattached in the tournament.
At last season's Nittany Lion Open, the Scarlet Knights were led by Scott Winston (Jackson, N.J.) and Daryl Cocozzo (River Edge, N.J.) who both placed in their respective weight classes. Winston, wrestling unattached, took second in the 165-pound bracket while Cocozzo placed fourth at 157 pounds.
This season, RU will send 18 wrestlers to Happy Valley. 12 will be competing for RU while six will be wrestling unattached.
Wrestling is scheduled to begin on 14 mats starting at 8:30 a.m. and will run continuously throughout the day. No team scores are kept at the event. MATCH NOTES
