PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 16, 2010) – Eighteen Rutgers gymnasts were named to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) 2010 All-Academic Team – the most of any school in the league.
There were a total of 94 gymnasts honored on the EAGL All-Academic Team which is comprised of the league’s eight schools. The 18 Scarlet Knights on the All-Academic Team tied the 2004 and 2005 teams for the most in school history.
“We are extremely proud of the girls for their outstanding academic accomplishments,” said head gymnastics coach Chrystal Cholet-Norton. “We always have goals to achieve excellence in and out of the gym. This is a good representation of their dedication to their academics as well as their gymnastics.”
Seniors Prishani Seebadri (Wenonah, N.J.) and Laura Sevarino (Cheshire, Conn.) earned All-Academic honors for the fourth-straight year, while fellow senior Alyssa Lewandowski (Linden, N.J.) was honored for the third time after transferring to Rutgers for her sophomore season.
Lewandowski was joined by juniors Brooke Schwamburger (Powell, Ohio) and Maddie Zwiebel (Bridgewater, N.J.) as three-time All-Academic selections.
Sophomores Jessica Kerley (Maplewood, N.J.), Katelynn Raymond (Burlington, N.J.) and Nicole Schwartz (Somerset, N.J.) earned All-Academic laurels in each of their first two seasons, while freshmen Madeline Meyer (Darien, Ill), Nicole Romano (Livingston, N.J.), Emma-Rose Trentacosti (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) and Jenna Zito (Rockaway, N.J.) earned a spot on the All-Academic team in their first year with the Scarlet Knights.
