
Rutgers Wrestling Up To 14th in Intermat Team Rankings

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (November 22, 2011) - The Rutgers wrestling team moved up to 14th in Intermat's latest team rankings, while continuing to have five individual wrestlers rated. The Nov. 22 tournament-strength ranking allotted the Scarlet Knights 31 points to place the squad as the fourth-highest EIWA team.
The ranking tabbed RU wrestlers Mario Mason (Moorestown, N.J.) and Scott Winston (Jackson, N.J.) in the top 10 nationally in their weight classes, with Mason at fourth at 149 pounds and Winston at sixth at 165 pounds. Mason is 3-0 on the season with a first place finish at the Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational, including a 7-5 decision of No. 14 Nick Lester of Oklahoma. Winston has recorded a 3-1 record.
RU's Greg Zannetti (Edison, N.J.) was ranked 16th at 174 pounds. Zannetti is 3-0 with a title from the Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational, including a 5-2 win over No. 17 Jimmy Sheptock of Maryland.
Rutgers 125-pounder Joseph Langel (Howell, N.J.) and 141-pounder Billy Ashnault (South Plainfield, N.J.) checked in at 16th and 14th in their respective weight classes. Langel has yet to take the mat, while Ashnault has an overall mark of 4-1.

Rutgers continues its 2011-12 wrestling season on the road at the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y. on Saturday. RU will face off in dual action against North Carolina, Purdue and Central Michigan.
