Knight Notes
• The 14th-ranked Rutgers wrestling team continues its road stand at the 2011 Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 26. RU faces UNC, Purdue and Central Michigan.
• Rutgers returns to the Northeast Duals after sweeping its competition in 2010, winning matches over Stanford (18-13), Missouri (16-13) and Columbia (29-9)
• RU scored a 28-6 dual victory over UNC last season on Jan. 9, 2010, winning eight of the 10 contested bouts against the Tar Heels.
• The Scarlet Knights have never faced Central Michigan or Purdue in dual action.
• In its only competition thus far in the 2011-12 season, Rutgers scored a third-place finish at the Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational. Mario Mason (Moorestown, N.J.) and Greg Zannetti (Edison, N.J.) won individual titles at 149 pounds and 174 pounds, respectively.
• In his fifth season leading the Scarlet Knights, head coach Scott Goodale has compiled a 71-21-1 dual record.
Scouting the Tar Heels
• North Carolina's 0-4 wrestling team is highlighted by standout 141-pounder Evan Henderson, who sports a 9-0 record. UNC appeared at the Wrestle For A Cure Duals in Harrisburg, Pa., on Nov. 12, falling to Illinois (32-9), Boston University (24-12), Nebraska (20-16) and Ohio State (33-6).
Scouting the Boilermakers
• Purdue (ranked in tie for 24th) stands with a 1-1 dual record after a 37-6 victory over Indianapolis on Nov. 18. The Boilermakers have standout competitors in Cashé Quiroga (133), Ivan Lopouchanski (149) and A.J. Kissel (197). Purdue fell in dual action to Missouri by a score of 21-15 on Nov. 13.
Scouting the Chippewas
• Central Michigan (2-0) opened its season on Nov. 20 with victories over Stanford (22-13) and Chattanooga (24-8). CMU returns two-time All-Americans Scotti Sentes at 133 pounds, Ben Bennett at 184 pounds and Jarod Trice at heavyweight. The Chippewas' squad includes 15 true freshmen.
Rutgers Wrestling Up To 14th in Intermat Team Rankings
• The Rutgers wrestling team moved up to 14th in Intermat's latest team rankings, while continuing to have five individual wrestlers rated. The Nov. 22 tournament-strength ranking allotted the Scarlet Knights 31 points to place the squad as the fourth-highest EIWA team.
Scarlet Knights Ranked 18th in W.I.N. Magazine Poll
• The Scarlet Knights were placed at 18th-best in the country in W.I.N. Magazine's Nov. 23 team rankings. RU had four individuals in the poll.
