Rutgers Gymnastics Releases 2013 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 16, 2012) -Rutgers gymnastics unveiled its 2013 schedule, second-year head coach Louis Levine announced Monday. The Scarlet knights will host four meets at the Livingston Recreation Center this season. Levine led the squad to a 13-11 record last season, winning three meets outright.
"We are excited to face some highly ranked programs this year," said Levine. "It will be a great chance to see where we rank against some of the best teams in the country."
This season's schedule includes four teams who finished 2012 in the top 25 of the NCAA rankings including Boise State (No. 14), Penn State (No. 16), West Virginia (No. 21) and Denver (No. 23). The Scarlet Knights will also compete against eight teams that qualified for the 2012 NCAA Regional Championships, including Boise State, Denver, Iowa, Kent State, Maryland, New Hampshire, Penn State and West Virginia.
The Scarlet Knights open the season on the road, traveling to take on New Hampshire on Jan. 5 in Durham, N.H. This will also mark the start of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) schedule.
RU will then start the home schedule, hosting Alaska, Bridgeport and Yale on Jan. 12. The Scarlet Knights will be home again the next weekend, taking on UPenn and Ursinus (Jan. 19). The annual alumni meet will take place on Feb. 2 with Pitt, Brown and Southern Connecticut State visiting. The team will honor the seniors at Senior Day on March 2, as it takes on Brockport, Brown and Cornell.
Other road meets for Rutgers include trips to Penn State (Jan. 26), Kent State (Feb. 10), Maryland (Feb. 15) Denver (Feb. 23), Towson (March 9) and West Virginia (March 16).
The EAGL Championships are slated for March 23. League members include George Washington, Maryland, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Towson. NCAA Regionals (April 6) and Nationals (April 19-21) follow the EAGL championships.
