
Smith Breaks into AWN, InterMat Rankings

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 19, 2013) - Redshirt sophomore 285-pounder Billy Smith (Wantage, N.J.) earned recognition from AWN and InterMat in this week's NCAA Division I individual rankings, making him the lone RU grappler to be ranked in the top-20 of all three wrestling polls.
The High Point product is ranked No. 16/17/17 by AWN, InterMat and W.I.N. Magazine, respectively.
Smith defeated then-No. 14/14/16 Kevin Innis by a 4-1 decision in RU's second dual of the season against Boston University on Sunday, Nov. 17. Smith also narrowly lost to Penn State's No. 11/ 10/ 11 Jimmy Lawson, 3-1, in the finals of the 2013 Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open in Binghamton, N.Y., on Nov. 10.
The Scarlet Knights (2-0, 2-0 EIWA) are next in action this Friday, Nov. 22 with a dual against Clarion.
