PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's cross country team races at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, its last race before heading to the Big Ten Championships in Chicago in November.
The Scarlet Knights, currently ranked 14th in the latest USTFCCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll, are coming off last weekend's Metropolitan Championship performance. Both the Scarlet Knights and senior Paige Senatore (Delsea, N.J.) repeated as Met champions for the second consecutive year. Rutgers won the 2015 team championship with three top 10 placements led by Senatore's first place finish.
Earning Big Ten Runner of the Week for her efforts, Senatore knocked 14 seconds off last year's championship performance and completed the 5K course at Van Cortlandt Park in 18:05.2. Also among the top ten were Allyson Black (Denville, N.J.) racing to a third place time of 18:43.9 and Alexandra Juzwiak (North Middletown, N.J.) clocking in at 19:23.4 to place eighth.
Other Scarlet Knights contributing to the scoring in RU's first place finish last weekend were Julia DeSpirito (Medford, N.J.) with a time of 19:48.0 for 21st overall and Nisa Cicitta (Glen Gardner, N.J.) finishing in 20:07.6 for 28th place.
Following this weekend's racing, the Rutgers women's cross country team begin preparation for the Big Ten Cross Country Championship, held at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday, Nov. 1.
