PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's cross country team will race at the 2015 Big Ten Championships hosted by Northwestern at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Sunday, Nov. 1. Competition begins at 12:45 p.m. (ET).
Last season, the Scarlet Knights battled 20 mph winds on the 6K Big Ten Championship course in Iowa to place 12th in their first ever Big Ten Championship appearance. Current senior Paige Senatore (Delsea, N.J.) led RU with a time of 21:18.4 to take 47th overall.
This season, as a team, Rutgers repeated as the Metropolitan Cross Country champions and also captured the Monmouth Invitational title for the third time in four years.
Senatore won individual titles on the 5K courses at the Monmouth Invitational (18:07.8) and Metropolitan Championships (18:05.2). She also posted a PR of 20:44 at the 6K Paul Short Invitational, braving the rain to finish in eighth place, only 17 seconds behind first place and marking a 42-second improvement from the previous season.
Also pacing the Scarlet Knights throughout the fall season have been sophomore Allyson Black (Denville, N.J.), junior Kaitlyn Bedard (Ringoes, N.J.) and sophomore Alexandra Juzwiak (North Middletown, N.J.). Black was third at both the Metropolitan Championships (18:43.9) and Monmouth Invite (18:49.3), while Bedard was among the top 10 at the Monmouth Invitational (19:33.2) and Juzwiak finished among the top 10 at the Metropolitan Championships (19:23.4).
BTN will air the Big Ten Cross Country Championships at 8 p.m. (ET) on Nov. 12.
