Men's X/C Finishes at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Rutgers men's cross country team finished 13th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Championships on Friday in Princeton, N.J., recording a team total of 32:33.9.
For the Scarlet Knights, the outing marked the best performance in more than 10 years at the regional, as the team improved more than 200 points from last year's score.
Georgetown captured the team title with a time of 31:01.9, while Penn completed the event at 31:10.1. Villanova rounded out the top-three with a mark of 31:02.2.
Freshman Conor Murphy (Millstone, N.J.) was the top finisher for the Scarlet Knights, crossing the threshold with a time of 32.05.9, good for 50th. For Murphy, it was the second time in as many meets the rookie finished first for RU, as he produced a time of 24:41.0 at the Big Ten Championships Nov. 1.
Senior Jaimin Vekaria (Clinton, N.J.), who earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship award, was the next best finisher for RU with a time of 32:25.9 for 66th place. Sophomores Trent Brinkofski (Somerset, N.J.) and Luke Wiley (Williamstown, N.J.) produced times of 32:36.7 and 32:59.0 for 72nd and 77th finishes, respectively.
Rutgers concludes the season on Saturday, Nov. 21, when the Scarlet Knights compete in the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
