Women's X/C Opens Season at Monmouth Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's cross country team begins the 2015 season on Saturday racing at the 21st annual Monmouth University Cross Country Invitational at Holmdel Park. The women's 5K race kicks off at 10:45 a.m.
Rutgers enters the race ranked 11th in the Preseason Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings.
The Scarlet Knights, who won the invitational in 2012 and 2013, placed fourth last season. Rutgers was led by a fourth place finish by Paige Senatore (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) with a time of 18:44.0, while three other Scarlet Knights placed among the top 25. Senatore won the 2013 running of the Monmouth Invitational, taking home the top spot with a 21-second margin in 18:43.85.
Two seasons ago, Kaitlyn Bedard (Ringoes, N.J.) helped RU to the 2013 title by running to a sixth place time of 19:35.53.
Following Saturday's race, the Rutgers women's cross country team will be back in action at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday, Oct. 2.
