Sep 12 | Women's Cross Country
Holmdel, N.J. - The Rutgers women's cross country team tied for the top spot in the seven-team Monmouth Cross Country Invitational and senior Paige Senatore (Delsea, N.J.) won the individual title to open up the 2015 season on Saturday at Holmdel Park. Overall, three Scarlet Knights were among the 5K race's top 10 finishers.
"It was a solid opener and first competitive opportunity of the season. It's always great to see your front runners win the race and run personal best times," said assistant Coach Marina Muncan. "We have a lot of work to do and look to keep improving as the season continues."
Both Rutgers and host Monmouth accumulated 39 points to tie for first place. St. John's followed in third with 78 points. The Scarlet Knights have won the Monmouth Invitational title in three of the last four seasons.
Senatore captured first place with a finish line time of 18:07.8 for her second Monmouth Invitational title. The senior Scarlet Knight bested her time of 18:43.85 recorded in her title run in 2013.
Sophomore Allyson Black (Denville, N.J.) and junior Kaitlyn Bedard (Ringoes, N.J.) finished in the top 10. Black landed in third in a time of 18:49.3, while Bedard took home seventh place in 19:33.2
