KYLE, Texas - Women's golf opened its spring season on Monday at the Texas State Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Club. The Scarlet Knights are a few holes short of completing round two, which was halted due to darkness, after carding a 314 in round one.
Day one began with temperatures in the low 70's, before dropping into the mid 50's for the reminder of the afternoon. Maeve Rossi carded a team-best 76 over the initial 18 holes, while competing in 15 miles-per-hour winds and periods of rain.
Anna-Maria Diederichs shot a 78 and Carrie-Ann Lee a 79 in round one, while Leigha Devine and Eun Won Park carded 81 and 82, respectively, on the par 72, 6,290-yard course.
RU is sharing the course with host Texas State, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Little Rock, Marshall, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Louisiana-Monroe, UT Arlington, Texas-Rio Grande Valley and Texas-San Antonio. Texas State had the best opening round score with a 294.
