Luke Koenig Earns Big Ten Golfer of the Week From Second Place Finish at Steelwood Collegiate

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's golf senior Luke Koenig has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week following his impressive performance at the Steelwood Collegiate in Loxley, Alabama.
Koenig earned the honor after firing rounds of 70 and 68 to finish six-under par (138) in a weather-shortened event. Heavy storms forced the tournament to be cut to two rounds, but Koenig stayed composed and made the most of limited opportunities on a challenging course.
"With the weather cutting things short, it was all about making every shot count," Koenig said. "I made sure to take advantage when I could since we were unsure of if we would play the entirety of the tournament. It's always rewarding to play well when conditions aren't ideal and to help the team finish strong."
Head coach Rob Shutte praised Koenig's consistency and ability to adapt under pressure.
"Luke's a steady player who understands how to manage his game," Shutte said. "He controls the ball well on the greens and knows how to handle different course conditions. His focus and drive continue to push both himself and the team forward."
Koenig's recognition adds to a historic fall for Rutgers men's golf. He becomes the third Scarlet Knight to earn Big Ten Golfer of the Week this season, joining Lucas Politano, who was honored last month, and Jeffrey Zatorski, who earned the award at the start of the season.
This marks the first time in program history that three different Scarlet Knights have received the conference's weekly honor in the same fall season, a reflection of the team's growth and trust in one another.
With the fall schedule complete, Koenig and the Scarlet Knights will next hit the course in February to return for the spring season.
