
Former Scarlet Knight Hannah Heideveld To Compete At World Rowing Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Former Rutgers Scarlet Knight Hannah Heideveld will compete with Team USA at the Senior World Championships in the Women's 8+ on September 21-28th in Shanghai, China.
An Amsterdam, Netherlands native, Heideveld holds dual citizenship with the United States and is a two-time gold medalist with the U.S. Rowing Women's 8+ at the World Rowing U23 Championships. She also competed at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Heideveld wrapped up her career as one of the most decorated Scarlet Knights in the 50 years of the Rutgers women's rowing program. A three-time CRCA All-American, she earned first team honors in 2025, second team accolades in 2022 and honorable mention status in 2023. Additionally, she was a three-time All-Big Ten First Team honoree and was named the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
During RU's 2025 season, Heideveld was runner-up in the petite final and eighth overall with the Varsity 8 at the NCAA Championships, helping the Scarlet Knights to an eighth-place national finish. She was also a runner-up at the Big Ten Championships with the Varsity 8 as Rutgers claimed its highest finish at the championship with a second-place result.
Previously, Heideveld contributed to the Scarlet Knights' Varsity 8 14th-place finish leading to RU's 15th-place team finish at the 2023 NCAA Championships, was a member of the Varsity 8 that won the C finals at the 2022 NCAA Championships and rowed with the Varsity 8 that finished fifth at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
The 2023 Competitive Excellence Award winner at Rutgers' Chancellor-Provost's Student Leadership Awards Gala, Heideveld received her bachelor's degree in public health and is currently working towards her master's of public health.
Under the guidance of head coach Justin Price, Rutgers rowing has trained and developed several Scarlet Knights who have participated on national teams including Karin Brandner (Austria), Femke de Witt (Netherlands), Victoria Grieder (Canada), Sarah Johanek (United States), Chiara Saccomando (Germany), Ella Toa (Great Britain), Femke Paulis (Netherlands) and Lily Wood (Great Britain) in addition to Heideveld.
