Women’s Golf Wraps Up Day Two of Paradise Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Rutgers women's golf finished the second round of the Paradise Invitational on Tuesday in Boca Raton, Florida. Sophomore Judy Amano shot up five spots on the leaderboard thanks to her even 72 to highlight action for the Scarlet Knights at the Osprey Point Golf Course.
With one round left to play, RU is 12th with a 21-over-par 597 (304-293), improving 11 strokes from the opening round. No. 24 Tennessee leads the 16-team field with a five-under-par 571 (289-282), followed by No. 30 Kentucky (-4) and Georgia (+3). Tennessee's Kyra Van Kan leads the 90-player field with a seven-under-par 137 (72-65).
Round 2 – Tuesday, Feb. 3rd
Weather: Sunny, Temps in the mid-50s, 10-20 mph winds
After her four birdies on Monday, Amano followed with an even 72 on Tuesday. Her outing included 14 pars sandwiched in between birdies on holes one and 18. Her three-over-par 147 (75-72) has her tied for 22nd after two rounds.
"Today's round was fun and I am happy I was able to contribute a good score for the team," Amano said. "On some holes, I was just trying to save pars, while some I had great looks at birdie. I will keep working hard to make more birdies tomorrow."
Redshirt senior Grace Lu was the biggest mover of the group, jumping 13 spots on the leaderboard thanks to her one-over-par 73, highlighted by three birdies on the back nine. Rookie Elizabeth Ryu remained consistent, producing a two-over-par 74 with birdies on the fourth and 18th holes to move to 28th.
Sophomore Joline Truong moved back to 55th in the field, while junior Emily James carded a two-over par 74 on Tuesday to move up five spots. Competing as an individual, junior Krystal Li produced a two-over-par 74 and is tied for 55th.

Truong played strong in her first round of the spring, rolling in birdies on holes one, five and 15. Her three birdies and 11 pars gave her a one-over-par 73 to open her first tournament of the spring.
"While I didn't have my best game today, I was happy with my ball striking," Truong said. "We're familiar with this course and know we have the ability to post better scores. The weather and conditions will improve, and we're excited to tee it up for the second round."
Ryu also muscled an impressive opening round, birding holes seven and 11 while adding 12 pars for her one-over-par 73. Sophomore Judy Amano led the Scarlet Knights with four birdies on Monday, finishing with a three-over par 75 to sit 28th.
