Gymnastics Downs No. 24 Maryland Behind Season-Best Score

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Rutgers gymnastics used a season-high score of 196.175 to defeat No. 24 Maryland on the road Saturday night.
The Scarlet Knights set or tied a season high in all four events, including back-to-back scores of 49+ on floor and beam to close out the meet.
Senior captain Gabrielle Dildy provided a stellar all-around performance with a 39.425. It was a career-high all-around score, the seventh-best all-around mark in program history and the best by a Rutgers gymnast since Hannah Joyner posted a 39.525 in March 2023.
RU began the meet on bars, tying a season high with a 48.950. Despite a fall in opening routine, the Scarlet Knights rallied with four straight scores of 9.8 or better, highlighted by a career high 9.850 from Dildy. Elliot Goldsmith also set a career high with a 9.825 in the event.
On vault, the Scarlet Knights matched their bars score with a 48.950. Vivienne Larsen delivered a career-high mark of 9.775 and Rachael Riley posted a 9.825 for her best mark of the season.
Rutgers had its best score on any event this season with a 49.225 on floor. Larsen made her collegiate debut in the second spot, earning a 9.775. Dildy set a career high with a 9.925, the highest score by a Scarlet Knight in any event this season. Emily Leese anchored with a 9.900 to push RU into the lead with one rotation remaining.
Closing out the meet on beam, the Scarlet Knights posted their best mark of the season by a half a point with a 49.050. Delaney Adrian gave the team a big start with a 9.825 and her teammates followed up three scores of 9.8 or higher to finish off the event. Keeley Smith (9.800), Rachael Riley (9.825) and Dildy (9.825) and hit their routines as RU went on to post a 196.175 and win the meet by over a half a point.
