Colin Kurdyla Earns National Player of the Week Honors

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Following a historic offensive outburst in a two-win week for No. 17 Rutgers men's lacrosse, attackman Colin Kurdyla has been named the National Offensive Player of the Week. Kurdyla earned recognition from both USA Lacrosse and the Lacrosse Network.
Kurdyla had 20 points combined in two game week with wins over St. Johns and Bellarmine. He had 11 points on four goals and seven assists against St. John's last Tuesday and followed that up with four goals and five assists against Bellarmine Saturday.
The Bridgewater, N.J. native became the first RU player with 11 points in a game since 1993 and tied for the fourth most points all-time. His seven assists against the Red Storm was the sixth most in program history and most assists in a game by a RU player since 1997.
Kurdyla became the first RU player in program history to have 9+ points in a game twice in the same season, let alone twice in the same week. Only three other RU players have had 9+ points multiple times in their career, all doing so in different seasons.
Currently, Kurdyla Is first in the Big Ten in points per game, assists per game and is fourth in goals/game. He is in the top-12 nationally in points and assists per game.The junior, a Tewaaraton Award Watch List member, has 23 goals and a new career high mark in assists (22) and points (45).
Kurdyla and the Scarlet Knights begin Big Ten play this weekend. RU will host No. 7 Ohio State this Saturday, a 1 pm game at SHI Stadium.
