
Women’s Golf Leads After Day One of Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's owns a three-stroke lead after the opening two rounds of the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday in Piscataway. Sophomore Judy Amano is third while redshirt senior Grace Lu, junior Emily James and rookie Elizabeth Ryu are tied for fourth to highlight action for the Scarlet Knights at the Rutgers Golf Course.
RU is three strokes ahead of Penn with a 30-over-par 598 (294-304). The Quakers are second with a 33-over-par 601 (303-298), followed by Dartmouth (+42). Mi Li from Penn leads the 88-player field with a four-over-par 146 (76-70).
"We struggled this afternoon off the tee and found ourselves out of position too often," said head coach Kari Williams. "We'll be in a great spot tomorrow if we can clean that up and play like we have been at our recent events. I'm confident in how we prepared and know we can attack the course tomorrow."
Sunday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Day One – Saturday, April 11
Weather: Sunny, Temps in the mid-50s, 10-20 mph winds
Amano and James rolled in two-over-par 73s in the opening round, with both producing four birdies during their first 18 holes. With the winds picking up later in the day, Amano followed with a four-over-par 75 in the second round to finish the day third.
Lu, James and Ryu all tied four fourth after their first two rounds. Lu and Ryu both produced three-over-par 74s in the opening round to highlight their respective plays on Saturday.
Sophomore Joline Truong finish the day tied for 32nd, while junior Krystal Li is tied for 37th. Li produced a four-over-par 75 in the second round, which included 12 pars and a birdie on hole 15.
