
Moving On: Gymnastics Advances to NCAA Regional Semifinals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rutgers gymnastics is moving on to the NCAA Lexington Regional Semifinals. The Scarlet Knights delivered a team score of 196.200 to defeat Central Michigan on Thursday afternoon in round one of the regional. RU will now compete in the semifinals tomorrow night at 7 p.m. against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 16 Kentucky and No. 18 Ohio State. The top two teams in that quad meet will advance to the regional final on Sunday.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Scarlet Knights, who led after the opening rotation and never looked back. They received contributions from up and down the lineup, with five different gymnasts leading them in the four events.
Beginning the meet on bars, RU earned a 48.825. Reagan Schenkel led the way in the anchor spot with a 9.850 to tie a career high.
On vault, Rutgers would tie its season high with a 49.100, tied for the ninth-highest score in program history on the event. Lisa Chevaire started the rotation with a 9.825 to tie a career best. Vivienne Larsen followed with a career high 9.850. Rachael Riley tied a career high with a 9.850 and Gabrielle Dildy added a 9.800 for a strong team showing in the event.
On floor, RU tied its second-highest score of the season with a 49.275. All six competitors earned at least a 9.8 on the event, with Donna Uhlenberg leading things off with a 9.825. Larsen continued her strong day with a 9.825, tying a career high. Delaney Adrian (9.825), Elliot Goldsmith (9.850) and Emily Leese (9.875) all contributed high scores, while Dildy led the team on the event with a 9.900.
With three strong rotations, Rutgers led the Chippewas by .800 heading into the final rotation. All six gymnasts hit their routine on beam to lead Rutgers to a 49.000, tied for the second-highest score of the season. Adrian got the team going with a strong 9.775. Matis Rains delivered a 9.800 to keep the momentum going. Keeley Smith earned a career-high 9.850, winning the event. Dildy anchored for RU, scoring a 9.800 to wrap up the win.
Dildy continued her run of excellence in the all-around, winning with a 39.300.
Tomorrow night's quad meet is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
