Men's Golf Announces 2026-27 Season Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers men's golf has unveiled its 2026-27 schedule, a 12-tournament campaign that stretches from the New York Harbor in late August to a marquee finish on home soil, as the Scarlet Knights wrap the spring at historic Baltusrol Golf Club for the Big Ten Championship.
Head coach Rob Shutte, entering his 15th season at the helm, has assembled a schedule that blends elite national competition with a strong New Jersey presence. Rutgers will tee it up three times in the Garden State, opening the year at the New York Harbor Cup in Bayonne (Aug. 30 – Sep. 1), hosting the Rutgers Invitational in Bedminster (Apr. 17-18), and closing the regular season at the Big Ten Championship at Baltusrol in Springfield (Apr. 30 – May 2).
The fall opens at the Rutgers-hosted event The New York Harbor Cup before the Scarlet Knights head north of the border for the Canadian Collegiate in Muskoka, Ontario (Sep. 13-15). Rutgers then travels to Maple Plain, Minn., for the Gopher Invitational (Sep. 20-21) before a return to the Northeast for the Hamptons Intercollegiate in East Hampton, N.Y. (Oct. 5-6). The fall concludes with two warm-weather tests: the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla. (Oct. 18-19) and the Steelwood Collegiate in Loxley, Ala. (Oct. 31 – Nov. 1).
The spring schedule carries an equally national tone. Rutgers opens 2027 at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico (Feb. 7-9), followed by the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C. (Mar. 7-8) and The Johnnie-O at Sea Island in Sea Island, Ga. (Mar. 15-16). The Knights then make their lone West Coast trip for the Golfweek.com Invitational at Rolling Hills Country Club in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. (Apr. 5-6).
The stretch run brings the team home, beginning with the Rutgers Invitational in Bedminster and culminating at one of the sport's most storied venues. Baltusrol Golf Club — a seven-time U.S. Open host — will stage the Big Ten Championship from April 30 to May 2, giving the Scarlet Knights a championship opportunity in their own backyard.
"It means a lot to play close to home so many times this year. It's exciting for people to come out and watch our guys, which we don't normally get the chance to do," Shutte said. "We've got some really cool venues to show off — we start at Bayonne, a great course we have a strong relationship with, plus that New York City backdrop. Anytime you can host, you get a chance to position your team for a great rest of the schedule. The power to control the setup is always helpful, and it can favor our guys."
Rutgers enters the 2026-27 season on the heels of one of the most successful stretches in program history, finishing a best-ever fourth in the Big Ten Championships and freshman Lucas Politano competing in the NCAA Regionals. The Scarlet Knights' national profile continues to rise with four different Big Ten Golfers of the Week last season alongside the PGA TOUR emergence of Rutgers alum Chris Gotterup.
The Scarlet Knights will look to build on that momentum when they open the season Aug. 31 in Bayonne.
"Hosting the Johnny O. at Sea Island for the fifth time speaks for itself — a PGA Tour course at a world-class resort," Shutte said. "We close the Rutgers Invite at Trump Bedminster, a great partner of ours that's right by campus, where we'll bring in 12 teams. It's a good way to get ready for the Big Ten Championships two weeks later at Baltusrol — almost a Big Ten preview."
