PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Scarlet Knight Enterprises today announced the hiring of Fred Mangione as Chief Executive Officer. A veteran sports and entertainment executive, he brings a record of proven revenue growth, leadership and major market experience to Rutgers Athletics. Mangione will begin his tenure on August 3.
Mangione joins Scarlet Knight Enterprises with more than 30 years of experience leading professional sports organizations and major events. Throughout his career, Mangione has built an impressive resume of driving growth through ticket sales, premium seating, sponsorship development, marketing, branding and organizational transformation.
"Few opportunities could mean more to me than helping build the future of Rutgers Athletics," said Mangione. "As a lifelong New Jersey resident, I've spent my career helping grow professional sports organizations throughout this region, and I understand the pride Rutgers represents for our state. College athletics is undergoing one of the most significant transformations in its history, and Rutgers is uniquely positioned to become a national leader in this new environment."
Mangione most recently served as Chief Business Officer for the NYNJ Host Committee for the FIFA World Cup, where he led all commercial business functions for the matches at MetLife Stadium, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. In that role, he helped drive regional fundraising and economic development initiatives through partnerships, hospitality and ticketing strategies. Mangione also played a critical role in expanding the scope of FIFA events throughout the New York and New Jersey communities.
"Scarlet Knight Enterprises was created to accelerate how Rutgers Athletics generates revenue, builds strategic partnerships, and positions itself to compete at a higher level," said Director of Athletics Keli Zinn. "Fred Mangione is the ideal leader to help us achieve that vision. Fred has a strong history of delivering exceptional results for some of the most recognizable brands in sports and entertainment. His deep understanding of the New Jersey and New York sports and business landscape will be instrumental to our success."
"We are excited to welcome Fred Mangione as our new CEO," said Board Chairman Oliver Luck. "Fred is a proven leader with a track record of driving revenue growth and building successful organizations which is critical for Scarlet Knight Enterprises as we continue to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities ahead."
Prior to serving with the NYNJ Host Committee, Mangione founded M&M Sports Consulting, where he helped premier brands create, develop and execute key strategies on naming rights, organizational structure, ticket sales and corporate sponsorships. Mangione consulted several sports and entertainment properties, including the Big 12 Conference, Red Bull New York, NY Islanders, UBS Arena, FanIQ and Seat Club. He advised the Big 12 Conference through the restructuring and commercialization of its front office operations and was also instrumental in facilitating the naming rights for the Red Bull New York home venue, Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Mangione held an executive role with the New York Jets as the franchise's Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Premium Partnerships. He helped reverse declining revenue trends and generated year-over-year growth annually, elevating the organization into the NFL's top five in revenue rankings. He also played a key role in the Jets' award-winning rebranding efforts.
Before joining the Jets front office, Mangione spent nearly two decades with the Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center organization, serving in executive leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. He was integral in the Nets' historic relocation to Brooklyn, the organization's rebrand which embraced the cultural identity of its new residence and helped launch Barclays Center into one of the premier sports and entertainment venues in the country.
Known throughout the industry as a collaborative and forward-thinking executive, Mangione has consistently demonstrated an ability to align stakeholders, modernize commercial operations and create sustainable revenue engines in highly competitive environments.
Mangione is a graduate of Centenary University, earning degrees in business, management and marketing. He currently holds a seat on the institution's Board of Trustees.
