Two Scarlet Knights to Compete at USA Swimming Toyota National Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers swimming and diving will have two student-athletes in action this week in California at a high-level meet in California. Rising sophomore Emilianna Gonzalez and incoming freshman Journei Webster will compete at the USA Swimming Toyota National Championships.
The Toyota National Championships will be held in Irvine, California at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. The event will be streamed live on Youtube, with all finals sessions on Peacock.
Gonzalez and Webster will compete in two of the same events, with Webster competing in one additional. Gonzalez will compete in the 50 Butterfly and 50 Freestyle. Webster will compete in the 50 Butterfly, 50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke. The 50 Butterfly will be held on Wednesday, the 50 Backstroke on Thursday and the 50 Free held on the final day of the competition, on Saturday.
A product of New York, N.Y., Gonzalez had a strong freshman campaign 'On the Banks' this past season. A C Finalist in the Big Ten Championships in the 50 Free, she has the third fastest time in program history in the 50 Free, swimming a 22.40 in the USA Winter Junior Nationals. She won the 50 Free at three separate events during the season and was named the Big Ten Swimmer and Freshman of the Week after the meet at Princeton.
Webster is set to join the Scarlet Knights for the fall out of Ewa Beach in Hawaii. A four-star recruit and top-150 recruit in the country, she was the No. 1 ranked swimmer in the state of Hawaii. A USA Nationals Qualifier, she was a five-time NISCA All-American.
