Bennett Espenshade and Lucas Politano each carded 3-under to share the low round for RU, with TJ Thompson (2-under) and Argyle Downes (1-over) rounding out the counting scores. Carlo Melgrati's 7-over did not count toward the team total.
Round 2: The Scarlet Knights cooled off, posting a 4-over round that dropped them from a tie for fourth into a tie for sixth with South Florida. Melgrati rebounded with a team-low 2-under, joined in the counting four by Espenshade (1-under), Downes (3-over) and Thompson (4-over). Politano, who opened with a 3-under, came back to earth with an 8-over second round that became the drop score.
Individually, Espenshade has been Rutgers' most consistent player, sitting at 4-under for the tournament — inside the top 10 of the 54-player field. Thompson follows at 2-over and Downes at 4-over.
