Athletics, Big Ten Conference select Roosevelt Elementary for music room renovation

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Roosevelt Elementary School became the beneficiary of a $50,000 music room renovation, thanks to the Big Ten Conference, in partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation, School Specialty, Eckrich and Rutgers Athletics, through the B1G Build initiative.
Roosevelt Elementary School students attended a ribbon-cutting and surprise reveal their new space. School Specialty completed the renovation of Roosevelt Elementary's music room, creating an updated, welcoming space designed to support music education, creativity, collaboration and student development.
"Today is an exciting day for our Roosevelt Elementary School community," said New Brunswick Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Aubrey Johnson. "This new music room gives our students a welcoming place to explore their talents, express themselves, and experience the joy of making music together. On behalf of New Brunswick Public Schools, we thank Rutgers Athletics, the Big Ten Conference, the College Football Playoff Foundation, School Specialty, and Eckrich for this $50,000 investment in our students. Your generosity reflects a shared belief that the arts are an essential part of a child's education."
Through the B1G Build initiative, the conference and its partners will create engaging, student-centered spaces designed to inspire learning, collaboration and creativity while strengthening the connection between Big Ten institutions and their local communities. The conference will work with all 18 member institutions to transform common areas at local elementary schools across the Big Ten footprint over the next three years.
"We are thrilled to be part of this project and to help create a music room where Roosevelt Elementary students can learn, express themselves and build confidence," said Carey Loch, Rutgers Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development and Success. "A thoughtfully renovated space can have a meaningful impact by encouraging creativity, connection and a lifelong appreciation for learning.
