Anna Vlachou, Katerina Hoffman Named to Big Ten Preseason Watch List

Vlachou (Swimmer to Watch) and Hoffman (Diver to Watch) Recognized
PISCATAWAY, N.J. ā Two student-athletes from Rutgers were named to the Big Ten's Preseason Watch List on Tuesday. Anna Vlachou was named a Big Ten Swimmer to Watch, while Katerina Hoffman was named a Big Ten Diver to Watch.
Vlachou enters her senior season after having a breakthrough campaign last year in her first season 'On the Banks' following a transfer from Nebraska. Vlachou was named Rutgers' Swimmer of the Year after a season where she saw her times place first or second in school history in three events. The native of Athens, Greece set school records in the 100 Fly (52.15) and 100 Free (48.50) at the Big Ten Championships, where she made the A Final in the 100 Fly and had three finals appearances. A Labor and Employment Relations major, she was named Academic All-Big Ten last season.
Hoffman enters her junior season as a team captain. Rutgers' Diver of the Year last season, she was a Second Team All-American on the 3-Meter board at NCAA Championships, placing 14th overall. She won the 1M and 3M dive at NCAA Zone Championships to qualify for NCAAAs and reached the podium twice at the Big Ten Championships, making the finals in 3M and 1M. An experienced diver in competing with Team USA, she is majoring in Finance.
Rutgers' swimming and diving is set to start the upcoming season this October. The team's season opener comes as RU hosts a two-day meet on October 9-10.
