Rossettin Shoots Under Par in Opening Day of Cougar Classic

The Scarlet Knights escaped the major storms in the area but still dealt with wind gusts of up to 20 mph and light rain throughout play.
Competing in her first varsity tournament in more than 15 months after being sidelined due to injury, Rossettin rolled in seven birdies across two rounds to sit tied for 36th in the 95-player field at Yeamans Hall Club.
With one round to play, the Scarlet Knights are tied for 16th out of 18 teams at 19-over-par 587 (300-287) in a loaded field that features two top-10 teams (No. 4 Florida and No. 5 Arkansas), 10 top-50 programs, 11 teams that competed in last year's NCAA Regionals, and five that reached the NCAA Championships.
The Gators lead at nine-under-par 559 (283-276), followed by No. 26 Baylor (-4), No. 21 Tennessee (-1), and Arkansas (-1). Baylor's Bridget Boczar sits atop the individual leaderboard at seven-under-par 135 (69-66).

Redshirt senior Grace Lu is tied for fourth in par-5 scoring with a 4.50 average. Junior Judy Amano was one of five players in the field to record an eagle, holing out on the par-5 fourth hole.

Scores improved for Rutgers, as the Scarlet Knights finished with the eighth-lowest second-round score (+3). Rossettin collected a two-under-par 69, adding a team-best six birdies, which included four over her final 13 holes.
Lu and junior Joline Truong both recorded one-over-par 72s, with Lu tallying four birdies while Truong added a round-best 15 pars. Senior Emily James and junior Judy Amano contributed three-over-par 74s.
ROUND 1 - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

Amano produced the top opening round for Rutgers, coming in with a two-over-par 73. She delivered a birdie on the 12th hole and added an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. James carded a four-over-par 75, delivering a team-high four birdies for the Scarlet Knights in round one.
Rossettin and Truong contributed five-over-par 76s, while Lu finished with a seven-over-par 78. Lu produced three birdies during the morning session.
