Scott Bieda, a Rutgers men's lacrosse alumn, joined the team's coaching staff in July of 2025, serving as the program's offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator. The 2016 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year came back to RU following nine seasons coaching at Michigan and Lafayette.
Bieda spent three seasons with Michigan to help their offense to great success. In his first season in 2023, the Wolverine offense set a program record in goals, assists and points, winning the Big Ten Tournament to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. In Bieda’s second season in Ann Arbor, U-M had its second most points in program history, winning 10 games and another Big Ten Tournament title. In 2025, Bieda mentored First Team All-Big Ten selection Ryan Cohen, who become the program’s all-time assist leader. He also guided Michigan’s all-time point leader Michael Boehm, who along with Cohen was recognized as an All-American.
Bieda came to Ann Arbor after spending the prior six seasons at Lafayette College, where he was the offensive coordinator for the final four seasons. The Leopards averaged 12.07 goals per game in 2022, while Bieda helped Peter Lehman to Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors in 2021 and second team all-conference honors in 2022.
Bieda was a dynamic attackman
over his playing career at Rutgers. He finished his career sixth all-time in RU history in both assists (103) and points (193), also scoring 90 goals. A two-time team captain, Bieda was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2016, the lone RU player to ever receive that accolade, after he totaled 28 goals and 38 assists for 66 points, leading the Big Ten in assists and points. Bieda was a three-time all-conference selection (twice named First Team All-Big Ten) and two-time Big Ten All-Tournament team selection. In 2016, he was a Third Team All-American, MVP of the North/South All-Star Game and Tewaaraton Award Semifinalist. Bieda played in 61 games at RU, starting 56 of them, and had 91 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Across Rutgers’ awards, Bieda won the Coursen Award and the William Miller Trophy in 2016, Knight Cup in 2015, and was a three-time winner of the Alfred Sasser Trophy for most assists on the squad.
Off the field, Bieda excelled academically as a Scholar All-American and Dean's List honoree in 2014 and a member of the National Honor Society. Additionally, he was an Academic All-Big Ten selection all four years of his collegiate career.
A native of Bridgewater, N.J., just under 10 miles from his new office at the Rodkin Center. He played high school lacrosse at Bridgewater – Raritan High School under Scarlet Knight alumn Chuck Apel, setting the school’s point record as a senior with 108 points on 60 goals and 49 assists. He set the school’s record with 204 points in his career and was a two-time All-State player and US Lacrosse All-American.
Bieda played two seasons of professional lacrosse, seeing action in 17 games for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. He recorded seven goals and 15 assists across the 2017 and 2018 seasons after originally being drafted 70
th overall in 2016.
