Jordan Schwartz

Jordan Schwartz joined the Rutgers Athletic Department as Associate Athletics Director for Brand Advancement in March of 2020. In the role, the East Brunswick native has oversight of a newly-created division charged with developing and implementing the Department’s social media, creative design and multimedia initiatives.

"We are excited to welcome Jordan, his wife Stefanie, and daughter Rayna, to the Scarlet Knight family,” said Deputy Director of Athletics Sarah Baumgartner. “Jordan will lead our newly-formed Brand Advancement Department. Jordan brings a wealth of experience in social media planning and execution in collegiate and professional sports. We have an extremely talented creative and digital staff that has been recognized nationally. With Jordan's leadership and experience, he will be able to harness the talents of our team to make Rutgers Athletics a national leader in brand advancement."

Under Schwartz’s direction, Brand Advancement will collaborate with all external units and sport programs on a content strategy that enhances the Rutgers Athletics brand regionally and nationally.

Schwartz arrives “On the Banks,” after serving as Director of Social Content and Strategy at Entercom, where he was responsible for creating strategic social media plans and marketing campaigns to drive customer engagement, acquisition and retention. Prior to joining the nation’s second-largest radio broadcasting company, he was Senior Manager for Social Media with the United States Golf Association (USGA).

From October 2013 to February 2018, Schwartz served as the NCAA’s Associate Director of Digital Communications in Indianapolis. In the position, he oversaw content and strategy for more than 60 social media platforms across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn and YouTube with a total audience of more than 10 million. Schwartz established a unified voice across platforms charged with communicating brand, championship, public relations and niche messaging content.

Before venturing into intercollegiate athletics, Schwartz was a Social Media Editorial Producer with Major League Baseball Advanced Media in New York City from August 2009 to September 2013. In the role, he created content for the League and its 30 member clubs’ Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube and Tumblr accounts and both wrote and edited posts for MLB.com’s blog, Cut4.com.

A 2004 graduate of Syracuse with a degree in broadcast journalism, Schwartz began his professional career as a studio host, play-by-play announcer and anchor at WGHT Radio from 2005-11, while also serving as a senior writer for Tomahawk Productions from 2007-09. From 2008-13, he was a featured columnist at Bleacher Report, covering the New York Yankees and college basketball.
