Colts Select Brackett to Receive Courage Award

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Former Rutgers standout linebacker Gary Brackett was voted by his teammates on the Indianapolis Colts to be the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. The award honors the memory of Block, a long-time trainer for the Colts who passed away in 1983.
Colts coach Tony Dungy told the Indianapolis Star newspaper that “it was a pretty easy call.”
Brackett is a standout for the Colts’ special teams with 18 total tackles, and plays regularly as one of their top defensive reserves at middle linebacker. Brackett has contributed two interceptions this season.
Dungy also the Star that Brackett has achieved despite "performing under duress and all the things he's had personally to overcome." Brackett’s brother, Greg, is battling cancer.
Brackett was a two-time MVP for the Rutgers football team before earning a spot on the Colts as a free agent in 2003.
