Georgetown Rallies to Defeat Rutgers 62-55

Wiggan, who earned his first start of the season against the Hoyas (10-4, 2-1), finished 9-of-13 from the field, while pulling down a team-high six rebounds for the Scarlet Knights.
Rutgers (6-6, 0-2) held Georgetown to just 18 first half points while racing out to a 26-18 lead at the break. The Scarlet Knight defense limited Georgetown to 0-for-9 shooting from 3-point range and 10 first-half turnovers. GU's Brandon Bowman had five turnovers at the break.
Rutgers led 40-30 in the second half when Georgetown began a 14-4 run that tied the game with 5:42 remaining. The Hoyas scored 20 points in the game's final seven minutes, taking their first lead of the game, 50-47, on Darrel Owens' three-pointer with 3:12 to play.
Georgetown's Jeff Green led the Hoya comeback with 10 of his 16 points in the second half. Green also tallied six of his 10 rebounds and four of his five blocks in the second period.
Bowman overcame six turnovers with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Hoyas.
Sophomore guard Quincy Douby (Brooklyn, NY) added 13 points, but Rutgers was hurt by a poor shooting night from senior guard Ricky Shields (Upper Marlboro, MD), who went 2-for-15 from the field and finished with eight points.
The Scarlet Knights opened a double-digit lead early after two 3-pointers and another long jumper from Douby and pulled ahead by 12 late in the first half.
Rutgers will travel to Hartford, CT, to face Connecticut at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15.
