PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Senior fullback Brian Leonard was named a First Team All-America by ESPN.com, the second All-America honor in 2006 for Leonard. Leonard, Rutgers' all-time career leader in scoring and receptions, was also named a First Team All-America by Pro Football Weekly earlier in the week.
The ESPN.com All-America team was selected by Ivan Maisel, the national college football writer for ESPN.com.
Sports Illustrated recognized Leonard as one of the "most underrated players," contributing as a tenacious blocker and threat to run or catch the ball from the backfield. Leonard has rushed for 2,731 yards and 1,862 receiving yards during his career. A 2006 team captain, he has been instrumental in teammate Ray Rice's Heisman Trophy push.
Also an outstanding student, Leonard became the 17th recipient of the Draddy Trophy, presented by HealthSouth, at The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame's 49th Annual Awards Dinner in New York City.
