Five Scarlet Knights Named to All-BIG EAST Football Squads

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior WR Kenny Britt (Bayonne, N.J.) and senior FS Courtney Greene (New Rochelle, N.Y.) highlighted a group of five Scarlet Knights who were named to the All-BIG EAST football teams Wednesday. Both Britt and Greene earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors for the first time. Senior DE Jamaal Westerman (Brampton, Ontario), junior LB Ryan D’Imperio (Sewell, N.J.) and sophomore OT Anthony Davis (Piscataway, N.J.) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

BRITT
|
Britt, the nation’s second leading receiver with an average of 113.8 yards receiving per game, leads the BIG EAST in receptions (81) and receiving yards (1,252). Britt is Rutgers’ all-time career leader and ranks second in BIG EAST history with 2,924 receiving yards. He is 80 yards shy of the BIG EAST all-time record for career receiving yards.
He owns the single-season school record with 1,252 receiving yards in 2008. Britt is third in Rutgers’ career annals with 172 receptions and tied for second with 16 career touchdown receptions. He has also caught a pass in 30 straight games, the eighth longest streak in the BIG?EAST.

GREENE
|
Greene, a Second Team All-BIG EAST performer in 2006 and 2007, has started a school-record 50 consecutive games and is fourth in Rutgers history with 382 career tackles. In 2008, Greene is third on the squad with 83 tackles to go along with one sack, one interception, two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries.

WESTERMAN

Westerman played his final game as a Scarlet Knight Dec. 4 in the 63-14 victory over Louisville. The senior tore his bicep in the win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 25 and finished out the regular season before season-ending surgery following the Louisville game. Westerman finished his Rutgers career tied for third in school history with 26 career sacks. In 2008, Westerman led the Scarlet Knights with six sacks.

D'IMPERIO
|
D’Imperio is fifth in the BIG?EAST with 7.3 tackles per game. D’Imperio recorded 11 tackles in the 12-10 victory over Connecticut on Oct. 18 and was named the BIG?EAST Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. On the season, D’Imperio is second on the team with 88 tackles. He recorded a career-high three sacks in the win at USF Nov. 15.

DAVIS
|
Davis started 11 games at left tackle for the Scarlet Knights in 2008 after making the transition from right guard in 2007. The Piscataway product has been one of the league’s best offensive linemen all season long and he held George Selvie of USF without a sack in the 49-16 victory over the Bulls on Nov. 15 in Tampa.
