PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's gymnastics program honored its four graduating seniors and recognized its standout performers at the team's annual awards banquet, held Sunday afternoon.
Seniors Elizabeth Bohnsack (Pasadena, Md.), Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, Pa.), Tiffany Schramm (Orange County, Calif.) and Jacquelyn Verdon (Freehold, N.J.) were recognized for their years of service and stellar performances throughout their careers "On the Banks."
Sophomore Laura Sevarino (Cheshire, Conn.) was named the program's Most Valuable Gymnast. She was the team's top all-around performer with consistent top-three finishes in several events this season. She posted a career-best score of 38.525 in the all-around against Cortland and recorded a career-best 9.800 on the vault in a five-team meet at the Livingston Recreation Center on Feb. 23. Her season was unfortunately cut short due to injury after the Feb. 23 meet, as the sophomore standout missed the final five meets of the season. Despite missing nearly half the year, Sevarino still earned Second Team All-EAGL honors in the All-Around at the end of the season.
Pannick received the Scarlet Knights' 100% award after competing in the uneven parallel bars in every event this season. She scored a season-best 9.775 to tie for first in the event at the highly-competitive Lindsey Ferris Invitational at George Washington University on Jan. 20.
Pannick also took home the Noble Award, honoring the gymnast who displays outstanding athletic ability, consistency, sportsmanship and dedication to the team.
Verdon and junior Jessica Haddaway (Baltimore, Md.) were each honored with the Most Improved Gymnast Award. Verdon competed on the floor exercise, balance beam and vault for the Scarlet Knights. She posted a season-best score of 9.725 in exhibition action on the balance beam against Towson on March 8 and registered a score of 9.600 on the balance beam at the Penn State meet. Haddaway competed in all four rotations at various points this season, mainly seeing time on the beam and bars. She posted a season-best score of 9.675 at West Virginia on March 15.
Rutgers finished the season with a mark of 11-13-1 overall and placed eighth at the EAGL Championships
