Anthony Davis Named Walter Camp Second Team All-America

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 10, 2009) – Rutgers junior offensive tackle Anthony Davis (Piscataway, N.J.) was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team Thursday evening. Davis was named a Second Team All-America on the nation’s oldest All-America team, now in its 120th year.
The postseason award for Davis is the fourth time in the last four seasons under head coach Greg Schiano a Scarlet Knight has been named to one of the nation’s prominent All-America teams. Current NFL standouts Kenny Britt, Ray Rice and Eric Foster also collected various All-America honors following the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons, respectively.
Davis is the third Scarlet Knight to earn a spot on the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team. Running back Ray Rice was a two-time Second Team All-America selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation in 2006 and 2007 while tight end Marco Battaglia was a Walter Camp Football Foundation First Team All-America honoree in 1995.
Davis, a 2009 All-BIG EAST First Team honoree, was named a Freshman All-America in 2007.
The Piscataway native has started 31 career games for the Scarlet Knights, including 20 of the last 21 contests.
Rutgers closes out the 2009 season Saturday, December 19 in the St. Petersburg Bowl vs. UCF. The Scarlet Knights look to win their fourth straight bowl as Rutgers plays in its fifth consecutive bowl for the first time in school history. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. with live television coverage on ESPN.
