
Rutgers Gymnastics Unveils 2011 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 11, 2010) – Rutgers head gymnastics coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton announced the Scarlet Knights’ schedule for the 2011 season.
RU will open competition Saturday, Jan. 8 in Durham, N.H. against the University of New Hampshire. The Scarlet Knights, who have opened the season against the Wildcats each of the last 10 years, were edged by the Wildcats, 189.725-188.925 in their season opener last season. Rutgers will return to action the following Sunday, Jan. 16 in Washington, D.C., participating in the George Washington Invitational.
The Scarlet Knights will host 2010 EAGL Champion North Carolina, Penn and Brown in their 2011 home opener on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Livingston Recreation Center. A week later, Rutgers hits the road again to face West Virginia and Pittsburgh in Morgantown, W. Va.
RU will open the month of February with a home tri-meet against Brown and Bridgeport at the Livingston Recreation Center on Friday, Feb. 4. The meeting between Brown and Rutgers will be the second in a two-week span.
Rutgers will hit the road for its next three competitions, traveling to New Haven, Conn. on Sunday, Feb. 6 to face Yale and Ithaca, before road meets at Cortland (Saturday, Feb. 12) and Maryland (Friday, Feb. 18). The Maryland competition will be a quad meet that will also include Penn State and William & Mary.
Bridgeport makes its second appearance at the Livingston Recreation Center this season as the Purple Knights join Ursinus in a tri-meet on Saturday, Feb. 26.
Rutgers will conclude its home slate on Saturday, March 5 with a five-team meet on Senior Day at the Livingston Recreation Center as the Scarlet Knights welcome Cornell, Southern Connecticut State, West Chester and Yale to Piscataway.
RU will make its second trip to Maryland, this time to traveling to Towson to take on the Tigers and the Bulldogs of Yale in a tri-meet on Saturday, March 12 in what will serve as the regular-season finale.
The 2011 EAGL Championships will be held in Washington, D.C. on the campus of George Washington University on Saturday, March 19.
NCAA Regionals will be held in six different venues, including Tuscaloosa, Ala., Denver, Colo., Athens, Ga., Ann Arbor, Mich., Norman, Okla. and Corvallis, Ore. on April 2.
The NCAA Championship finals will take place at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio, April 15-17.
The Scarlet Knights return 11 gymnasts who saw action last season, including senior Erica Gerlach (Papillion, Neb.), who tied for third on the bars at the USAG Collegiate National Championships last April.
