Rutgers' Logan Ryan Declares for 2013 NFL Draft

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 31, 2012) – Junior All-America cornerback Logan Ryan (Berlin, N.J.) has elected to forego his final year of eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft. Ryan is the fifth player since 2008 at Rutgers to leave school early and enter the NFL Draft.
“Logan embodies everything we look for when recruiting a potential student-athlete,” said Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood. “He is a smart, tough, disciplined player with a tremendous work ethic and talent. He has represented our program in first class fashion and we know he will continue to excel when playing on Sundays.”
The four Scarlet Knights prior to Ryan who elected to forego their final year of eligibility since 2008 have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success at the next level. Ray Rice left Rutgers following his junior season in 2007 and was a second round draft selection of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008 NFL Draft. Kenny Britt declared for the 2009 NFL Draft and was a first round pick of the Tennessee Titans while Anthony Davis was selected with the 11th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Rounding out the list of players who left early was Mohamed Sanu last year. He was a third round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Ryan was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection in his career and earned All-America honors in 2012 by Pro Football Weekly (First Team) and Phil Steele (Fourth Team).
A two-year starter at cornerback, Ryan finished second on the team with 94 tackles. A Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist, Ryan is the only player in the nation with at least 90 tackles, four interceptions and 18 passes defended.
Ryan currently ranks first in the conference and tied for eighth nationally in passes defended, averaging 1.50 per game. He also earned All-BIG EAST First Team recognition, as well as all-conference honors from ESPN.com andCBSSports.com.
